In 2022 I received an old stethoscope from my father. I took it apart and attached the head to the head of a small microphone. This gives one the possibility to record a live heartbeat and also to project it out in a room with an audience.
When humans are exposed to heartbeat, their own rhythm automatically syncs with the hearable one. The work is a research in what happen when we put an exchange of sound, that usually is given in a intimate setting, into a big and not so intimate space. When we lay next to a person and listen to their heartrhythm, or own rhythm syncs with it. That is why you sync your breathing with your lover’s.
