Inside the Highway Tunnel, AC *symbol*, (2026)

Durational sculptural performance, in collaboration with Apollonia Stoisits.
Polyethylene foil, construction fans, tape, fleece, light panels, WD-frame, cables, ink, lavalier mics, speakers, mixer, air

The in-car air circulation turns on as they enter the highway tunnel. Never mind the tunnel air not being the polluter itself but the cars driving through it. The air turning heavy and intoxicated, but their circulation is closed off.

The sculptural performance by Apollonia Stoisits and Agnes Eeg-Olofsson halts the movement of breathing, focusing on the still states of this most vital action.

The holding of the breath,

& the being out of the breath.
The calm and safety of a regulated breathing rhythm stretched out in anticipation. The incapacity to take in new air causing distress and scarcity. With another breath expanding in the center of its chest, the work has been cast to play the role of the lung of HFBK (congratulations queen). The breathing is hearable, slow, stuck. No airflow is present. Then something is happing, yet why does it feel like she is struggling?

The in-car air circulation has not been turned on as they enter the highway tunnel. Quickly the vehicle fills up with fumes. Heavy and sticky at the same time. Although, it is not the fault of the tunnel, but somehow we tend to overlook presence of other cars.
